ACCREDITED MODERATOR COURSE

For quality assurance purposes, training providers need competent, qualified moderators to monitor and evaluate the assessment process and design at site level.  The moderator will ensure that everything runs smoothly.  During the accredited course you will practice a moderation process and complete a set of moderation forms.  After the course you need to conduct moderation on two additional learner portfolios to prove that you can moderate.

Our Accredited Moderator Course is based on SAQA Unit Standard 115759 – “Conduct moderation of outcomes-based assessment”.  Successful students will be certified on NQF level 6 and awarded with 10 credits.  The course takes place over 3-4 days, depending on the size of the group, during which we cover theoretical and practical work through a simulation in class.

Our courses are based on outcomes-based principles and we focus on small group sessions, which ensure that every student receives individual attention. We offer courses in Nelspruit, Durban, Bloemfontein and Port Elizabeth but we travel for groups of more than five students.  All our courses are generic and accepted by all SETA’s and ETQA’s, so it doesn’t matter in which field you work, we cater for everybody.

After the contact session learners are also expected to complete some activities on their own which includes a practical moderation process and some theoretical questionnaires.  The course fee includes support after the course which can be given though another contact session or telephonically, which ever suits the student best.

During the three day contact session, the facilitator also focus on change management and motivational aspects, as we’ve identified these issues as key areas of SAQA and implementing the NQF.

ASSESSMENT

During the workshop, participants will be briefed on how to prepare and present a Portfolio of Evidence for assessment against Unit Standard 115759: Conduct moderation of outcomes-based assessment.

As soon as a candidate is found to be competent, and once Equipt Training has received endorsement – including your official registration number from the ETDP SETA, we will issue the necessary certificate on NQF level 6. (10 credits). This certificate will be accepted by SAQA and the relevant ETQA should you wish to register as a moderator.

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE

The credit calculation is based on the assumption that learners have previous assessment experience when starting to learn towards this unit standard, and in particular, recognition for the unit standard: 115753: “Conduct outcomes-based assessments”. It is further assumed that the person has evaluative expertise within the field in which they are moderating assessments.
